Play - With Beth

Hello again!

Ok, so here is my second layout for December.

No techniques this time either! Just a plain old layout about my boy a couple of years ago at preschool.

This time I used 14 different D-lish products. It does sound like a lot, but the prices are so cheap and you get so much for your money!

Thanks so much for having a look at my projects this month!

Hello - With Beth

I hope everyone had a magical Christmas!

On the blog today is a layout I created using a photo from Christmas Day 6 years ago when my daughter was almost 2 months old.

And you know what, I even used a technique. Yes indeed. You see, I bought some Gelatos from Faber-Castell. I don't know why as I had no idea what to do with them. I needed to watch YouTube and the only conclusion I can come to is they are like ink crossed with paint? Anyway, I combined some flecks with texture paste and smeared over a chevron mask to create the background. Then I painted some on the top and bottom edges. After all that, I thought the white was too stark so I misted over the top of it all.

Then I started with the fun bit, creating the design of my layout.

I don't know if you've noticed yet, but my favourite colour is blue, aqua tones especially. Combine it with some yellow and I'm in scrappy bliss. :)

This layout uses 10 different D-lish products:

Stayed tuned for another layout tomorrow!

Nunna (Kara whisperer) .. with Alz

Happy Christmas Eve!!!

I’m here today with a bright, fresh, fun, summery, celebratory style layout.

Nunna (Kara whisperer)

Kara’s mum (my friend Margaret) isn’t a great fan of pink, even though she has a little girl and I’ve begged her to put her in pink more often LOL!  Margaret’s dislike of the colour pink posed quite a problem for me when creating this layout because her mum (Nunna) is wearing a fuchsia pink cardigan!!! What to do LOL?! I decided to print the photo in black and white in 4x6 and in colour in 4x3 and take inspiration from the bright colours in the smaller photo, without focussing overly on pink.

Can you see all the beautiful D-lish Scraps embellishments I’ve used? They are all just little bits and pieces tucked in here and there. They blend in beautifully without taking away the focus from the photos and the handmade background. Rather, they work to enhance them.

On this layout I’ve used Resin Flowers (Forget Me Nots and Two Tone Daisies), black Motex Tape, a Flair Button, a Polka Dot Heart Button (Lime), Freckled Fawn Wood Chips (Birds and Arrows), a Freckled Fawn Paper Clip (Arrows), a Skipping 5 Puffy Things (Woodgrain heart), and lots of Washi Tape. I know I've probably said it before a thousand times, and I'll probably say it again another thousand times LOL, but I honestly cannot tell you how much fun it is creating with D-lish Scraps products!

Anyways tomorrow is Christmas! Yikes!! I hope you’re prepared. I'm not! I hope you’ve done all your shopping, planned all your baking and cooking, wrapped all your presents, decorated your tree and home and are ready to sit down, relax and enjoy the Carols. Whatever you and your family and friends are doing tomorrow I hope you have a very merry Christmas, and that if you’re on the roads, you stay safe. I’ll see you all in the New Year!!! Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Getting my grunge on .. with Alz

Morning all!

I’m here today with a grungy, mixed media layout from the Kara Chronicles. The layouts I’ve recently shared have been quite pretty, shabby chic or whimsical. Today’s layout is an example of how not all little girl layouts need be sugar and spice (there’s not a flower or hint of pink in sight!) and just how very versatile D-lish Scraps’ embellishments are.

Puppy kisses

The D-lish Scraps embellishments on this layout include .. Freckled Fawn Wood Chips (Birds), Freckled Fawn Paper Clips (Camera), Skipping 5 Puffy Things (Wood grain Hearts), blue glitter from the mini jar in the Just Add Paper Neon POP! Kit, Memory Maze Chipboard (Chevron and Mini Words), Carnival Tickets, Journal It's by Star (Spool Top Sentiments), Glittered Canvas Tape (red), grey Hand Dyed Muslin, blue Motex Tape, Washi Tape, and a Paper Doiley (Red Polka Dot).

With some lighter/brighter colours, softer stamping and some flowers, this layout could quite easily become ‘sugar and spice’. I however was inspired by the bold red Kara’s mum likes to dress her in, and Hershey’s soft, messy fur.

I have just a couple of tips for you I discovered when creating this layout. Firstly, in the Neon POP! Just Add Paper Kit from October was a tiny jar of blue glitter. Intended as an embellishment on its own, which I didn’t use, I decided to add some blue glitter spots to my layout by randomly placing spots of Glossy Accents on my background and then covering them with glitter. Once I was sure they were completely dry, I sprinkled the excess onto a piece of paper and returned it to the jar (LOL .. waste not want not!). Secondly, l wanted triangular notches in my red glitter tape where it sticks out from beneath my layers. In the past those notches have ended up in the bin. Not so with this layout! I realised they make perfect, little, triangle embellishments. Again LOL, waste not want not! And yes, now before anything gets tossed it’s thoroughly scrutinised! I hope those tips prove useful.

I’m looking forward to chatting with you again tomorrow!

Cheers .. Alz   :)

Puppy love .. with Alz

Morning all! Can you believe Christmas is only three sleeps away?!?!!!! Where has the year gone? As I myself am in a mild panic that Christmas is only a few days away, and I don’t want to add to your panic (LOL), this exclusive D-lish Scraps layout has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas!!! Let’s pretend for just five minutes that Christmas is far, far away ..

Puppy love

There’s a lot less focus on mixed media on this layout and a lot more focus on the gorgeous patterned papers (Fancy Pants Collecting Moments) and the as yummy as ever D-lish Scraps embellishments.

I know you’re busy with last minute Christmas ‘stuff’ so I won’t keep you any longer than I need to, except to share the products I’ve used .. black Motex Tape, Freckled Fawn Dew Drops (Ombre Blue), Freckled Fawn Wood Chips (Birds), Memory Maze Chipboard Word Sheets (Arrows), a mini Kraft Bag, a Flair Button, Paper Flowers (Forget Me Nots), Flag & Flair Packs (Aqua/Teal and Orange/Peach), and Journal It's by Star (Mixed Ticket Tabs and Round & Rounds).

Cheers .. Alz   :)

Keeping it simple .. with Alz

Shock horror! Did you read right? “Keeping it simple .. with Alz”??!!! LOL yep you sure did. Although I’m generally ‘known’ for my ‘more is more’ approach to mixed media and texture every now and then I feel the urge to create something more ‘clean’ and simple. Usually when that urge hits, I head towards something elegant or whimsical, or both. This layout was all about whimsy ..

We're family
published in Scrapbooking Memories Volume 16 No. 11

I created this layout for a challenge blog where I’m a member of the creative team. I knew I wanted to scrap this photo of hubby and I taken in June 2012, but didn’t want to go down my usual soppy, lovey-dovey road because quite honestly I wear my heart on my sleeve often enough as it is!

Because I wanted the photo and the embroidered heart lollipops to remain the primary feature of my page I’ve used very few embellishments .. Freckled Fawn Wood Chips (Hearts), Freckled Fawn Dew Drops (Arrows), Freckled Fawn Paper Clips (Arrows), a Paper Doiley, black Motex Tape, and Flair Buttons. Not including my alphas, that’s six different types of embellishments and yet my page looks so ‘empty’. I guess I should try this KISS method of scrapping more often. I hope I’ve inspired you to give it a go.

Until tomorrow, stay cool and keep scrapping!!!

Cheers .. Alz   :)

2nd Design team share with Kaitlynne Roil

Hi there D-Lish Fans!

Kaitlynne here to share some of my SMASH pages with you.
First up I have a double SMASH page in the Baby folio about my daughter getting her ears pierced.

The baby book has a lot of purple in it which usually I find hard to work with, but with a few D-Lish products I am good to go!

I have used:

To get my pages done fast in a SMASH book I stick to "if in doubt add washi"...works every time!
Also, I have found my book is getting a little fat so I'm trying to stick to skinny embellishments. I made my own cheat Flair with washi tape and an epoxy resin seal.

Seeing Christmas is just next week I have a page that is sure to get you in the spirit! Especially for those of you doing December Daily.

I had so much fun creating this Christmas inspired page. I plan on doing a whole Christmas SMASH album so this is definitely a taste of more to come.

For this double, I have used:

For some quick and easy embellishments I made my own stars. Simply stick the canvas/washi tape to cardstock, trace a shape and cut it out. Its that easy!

Remember these tips and embellishments are great for all paper crafts, I hope I have inspired you to give some of these things a go.
Thanks for stopping in at D-Lish and I shall see you all in the new year.

Christmas SMASH*ing - with Karyn!

Hi D-lish Lovelies

I'ts Karyn here again with my final share for this month. Today I have two SMASH* pages to show you.

I'm using my Holiday SMASH* folio to document Christmas 2013 for our family (and all the related events that lead up to it!). The first event was the Adelaide Christmas Pageant which was held at the start of November. It was perfect weather and we arrived very early to get a fantastic viewing spot. This is one of our family traditions and we have many special memories.
On the LH page I've added a silver paper doilie, a shipping tag a small velum bag a white bitty blooms, a micros feathers (sprayed with silver Colorshine), and a today speech bubble, all from D-Lish ScrapsI used my Motex tape writer and some green tape to write the title.

I also added some patterned papers, velum die cuts; and stamps as well as twine, washi, enamel dots and a flower from my stash.
On the RH page I've layered 4 photos on a white paper doilie along with more patterned paper strips
I've then added more D-Lish Scraps embellishments including and a white bitty blooms, a micros feathers (sprayed with silver Colorshine), Freckled Fawn dew drops gold arrow, Freckled Fawn wood chips heart, and red star mini sequins. I use a Clever Sequin Pick-up Pencil to place the sequins on the pageI used my Motex tape writer and some green tape to write the title.
I added more die cuts, stamps, a  roller date stamp, and I added some twine and enamel dots from my stash.

Elf On A Shelf - With Karyn!

Hi D-Lish Lovelies!

I'ts Karyn here sharing another Christmas Scrapbook page.

Do you have an Elf at your house at the moment? This year we are lucky enough to have two - Elfie and Sparkle! They arrived the morning after we set up our Christmas tree and have caused great excitement ever since. Every morning my youngest searches the house to find the new adventures of the elves :)

I started this page by spraying a star stencil with green Dylusions ink and adding splatters across a white page.
Once this had dried I added some strips of various patterned papers along the top and under where the photos were going. I layered a white paper doilie under the photos and stuck them all down. I then added some Elf related stamps and flair.
I added some D-lish Scraps embellishments, specifically Freckled Fawn dew drops arrows and enamel dots, Freckled Fawn wood chips arrow and heart, green polkadot button, cream Forget me nots, green sequin string, blue cherry blossom, white azalea, blue Dyed Wooden Button, white mini daisies, and some green mini sequins. I use a Clever Sequin Pick-up Pencil to place the sequins on the page.
Lastly I added a title using some alphas from my stash, and included the date using a roller date stamp.

Christmas Scrapbooking with Karyn!

Hi D-Lish Lovelies!!

I't's Karyn here with a Christmas Scrap page to share with you.

I just love visiting the Magic Cave in Adelaide. It is still exactly as I remember it as a child. My favourite things there are the 2 horses, Nipper and Nimble, and the funny mirrors. I always would dream of being the lucky girl who could ride Nimble in the Christmas pageant!! My daughter Jessica loved having a ride on Nimble too!

I started this page by splattering red and green Dylusions inks across a white page. Then I trimmed this page and matted it on a piece of MME Mistletoe Magic paper.

I then matted my photo on to some more of the MME paper and layered it with a gold paper doilie, a shipping tag a small velum bag, and a Christmas Journal-it, from D-Lish Scraps.
I used my Motex tape writer and some green tape to write the title along with some Studio Calico Alphas.
I added some velum die cuts and used some stamps on the tag.

Lastly I added some more D-lish Scraps embellishments, specifically Freckled Fawn dew drops arrows, Freckled Fawn wood chips arrow and heart, bitty bloomscotton twinegreen canvas pick 'n' place bow, white daisy, green polkadot heart button, green polkadot button and cream Forget me nots

Share with Sophie {Shaker Box Ornament/Keepsake}

Hi guys, back again,
This time with a fun little tutorial showing you how to make this cute Shaker Box Ornament.
I think this would be a perfect keepsake or gift for a family member or friend. You could add a photo of  your children instead of patterned paper. Add the year and your child's name on the edge on the frame, or even create a tag and tie it on the twine. The possibilities are endless...but here are the basics for you using some D-lish products.

What you'll need:
Freckled Fawn Frame
Pattered paper and/or photo
Clear transparency or recycled plastic packaging (what I used)
Washi or glitter tape
Twine
A selection of small embellishments/die cuts
Sequins
Thin double sided tape
Scissors

Step 1: Cut your transparency to the size of your frame. Run a thin, double sided tape down all four sides of the back the frame. Adhere the transparency.

Step 2: Cut your patterned paper or photo. Your measurements need to be the size of the frame PLUS the width of the tape you will use x2. (Scroll down to see what I mean).

Step 3: Measure, from each edge, the width of the tape (mine was 1.6 cm). Score and fold where you have marked.

Step 4: Apply a thin, double sided tape along each edge of the pattern paper, on the right side. Adhere 3 sides to the frame. Leave the bottom open.

Step 5: Fill box with embellishments. Once filled scrunch some muslin and add to the bottom.
Step 6: Close last tab. Apply chosen tape to all four sides making sure all gaps are covered. Wrap twine around the outside of the box, tie a bow at the top. Use another piece of twine to create a loop.

And TA-DAAA! I think it turn out nice!

I hope you were inspired by this little project! If you do have a go please let me know in the comments, I would love to see the different variation.

Share with Sophie {Waiting for Summer}

Hi all,
Today I'm sharing with you a layout that features the very cute and super cheap Bitty Blooms. And when I say feature, I don't just mean a few.

I purchased three packets of Bitty Bloom, two orange, one yellow, with this idea in mind. I think I used all the coloured ones from the 3 packets but have a few white ones left over. I haven't counted them but I'd say there are about 60 on this layout.

I chose orange and yellow as I thought those two colours would create the best ombre effect. I think green and yellow would also look cool or you could just purchase a few packets of one colour. (Which I think I might do next).

I started with a base of texture paste, some strips of calico material, some more texture paste (stencilled) and then some yellow and coral mists.
I then arranged the flowers and eventually adhered them with a good old fashion glue stick.

Amongst the 'sea' of tiny flowers I also added other embellishments including a couple of different resins and buttons.

I didn't think I would but I ended up going with a monchronmatic/analagous colour scheme, using various other yellow and orange products from the store.

I sprayed some mist onto one corner of a Freckled Fawn frame to add a bit of colour.
It went on and dried really nicely. This is a great idea if you want to use the frame but the woodgrain finish isn't suiting your layout.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope this gave you some inspiration. This layout has even inspired me to try this technique again, I think it looks really effective. Let me know what you think.
Happy scrapping! See you again really soon.

These cute Washi feathers are made with the wire ties that come in freezer bags cute into a feather shape. Teamed with this gorgeous FWAB flower it looks fab!!

It is so easy to cluster with such pretty embelishments, a few scattered pearls and this was complete.
